Love Is
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, ESV)
Sometimes I wonder what love means and I always return to this passage. Love is transformative and purifying. Love is cultivated over time, a seed that germinates and takes root in our hearts. We are made new and our wrongdoings forgiven. Even when we don't feel worthy, we are reminded of our worthiness by loving and being loved.
All we have are our words, all we have are our actions, all we have is our care. We reflect on the past, act in the present, and plan for the future. Love is the deftness of invisible hands shaping the clay of our character. Secure, faithful, considerate love moulds our being closer into His image.
I might not know very much at all, but today I feel loved and I feel love for. For my family, for my partner, for the world. I may not have much of a way with words, but I do have my earnestness and desire to capture and share an inkling of how I feel. Life is so good. It's a beautiful day to be alive. I'm grateful to be here.
